Good food that's fast and fresh! I love the wings and catfish nuggets. We order and eat from there at least twice a month.
I know Harold's Chicken Shack tends to get all the love as Chicago staple. But like most things.... they are overrated. It's two JJ's in Bellwood, but I only come to this location vs the one on 25th. Cooked to order. For the most part I'll say the grease/oil is filtered/changed regularly. Mainly stick to the wings. Dabble with the Shrimp ever once a while. If you can, call your order in about 10 min advance. Due to the location can be a little hard turning into parking lot, congested parking lot on Friday/Saturday night.
Now don't get any ideas about this or any other J&Js being anyone's place for "fine dining." Still, the Chicken wings are mighty fine, indeed! First time I've been to this particular location (and I've tried a bunch of them, and they're all good), but this place does something to the wings that I've just not noticed at any other J&Js. The wings are a bit crispier, and the meat is a whole lot more tender. Plus, the owner (manager?) is a good dude. There's one more upside. The price is significantly lower here than the nearest other locations. 9 out of 10 times I'm over at the location on Roosevelt Rd in Maywood (closest to me) but when I phoned in an order and heard the total (YES! the price has gone up AGAIN!), I cancelled my order and started calling around. The Bellwood location did not disappoint. I almost always order 50 or 100 wings at a time, so driving a few extra mile is totally worth it to save some cash. All this and better tasting wings. I've found my new favorite J&Js!
